Closet Thoughts

3rd Entry for today.

No, these are not my deepest, darkest secrets, I'm just planning my day tomorrow. I am going to tackle, oh, horror or horrors, my bedroom closet. It has grown to quite fearful proportions and is threatening to take over that entire side of the room. So I am going to take everything out of it tomorrow, except the clothes that are hanging up and put it all in the living room and then tackle one box at a time. My goal is to get through the whole thing.

I've got bags of outgrown children's clothes that need to be sorted and readied for freecycle, old maternity clothes (youngest will be seven come March) yarn, craft supplies, pillow stuffing, batting, and several miscellaneous boxes of stuff. Papers that need to be shredded, magazines that need to be recycled, papers that need to be filed, newspapers that need to go in the box by the fireplace, wrapping paper, ribbons, bows, gift bags, and junk. I swear, it is all breeding. I hope I can get it sorted, trashed, organized, recycled, given away or whatever all in one day. It sure would be nice.

What has this to do with finances? Well, getting the old statements and bills filed or shredded will help in organizing the finances. And spending the day at home cleaning means I won't be out spending money. Other than that, not much. LOL

Did the closets last month, and I understand the challenge. Had to get right ruthless in dealing with my packrat tendencies, which usually means I'm at the end of my patience. Frustration is a great motivator.

The payoff is the feeling I get when I open the closet door and look at the neatly ordered contents and all that recovered space. Be brave and be strong.

you said "old maternity clothes (youngest will be seven come March)"

    yahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! Funny!

I just came out of the closet! No not that one. FrugalSon & CashHappy share a pigpen (I mean closet). The Hubster and I do not have a closet in our room, so mine is the coat closet in the living room and Hubster's is the one in CashHappy's room and FrugalSon shares the one in his room w/his brother! Thank you 1942 house w/the tiny or non-existent closets!

Anyway I was in there searching for CashHappy's uniform pants and egads what a mess!!! I spent a few minutes in there - rescued a few things...how the heck did my bra end up in there on the floor along with tee-towels and dishrags? Oh those darn laundry mice again...not folding the clothes and putting them away, but catching Mom gone and tossing them into the back of the closet!!!

When Lord, do these boys outgrow this stage???? I do not understand as I'm a relatively clean woman and my husband is a neatnik and how they got this tendency is beyond me...they're genetic throwbacks of some sort, yes?????

Good luck on that closet LuckyRobin! Remember to take a sit-down rest in the middle, but get back in there and get'er done. You'll feel so much better!

Congrats Bookie on reaching the *DANGER* closet alert stage!!

Oh, I love organizing...especially when it is done. Good luck with it all. Do you have yourself a reward for when you are done? You've motivated me to tackle my hall closet. We've just moved in and about every room needs to be organized.

    Lux...your bra was where? LOL!!

....the reason I know there are no monsters in MY closet is that there is no space left! :P ...At the old apt Ale and I shared a BIG closet, but now she shares with my niece and I have a very narrow (very tall) closet, which is very inconvenient for someone that is 1.49m and has tons of t-shirts and other clothes which should be folded (I only have 2 tiny shelves!)

    Good luck organizing your closet!
