Propane

February 5th, 2007 at 03:24 am

My propane bill came yesterday. I was really afraid to open it up, but I finally did it and I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it would be sky high, but it was only $320. For six months, as the last time it was filled was in August. I have been putting aside $50 a month for this expense, so I only need to come up with an additional $20. Not bad at all. I swear, I thought it would be closer to $500, we have been using it so much. I'm just really glad it wasn't.

Do you have the option to do a monthly plan with your propane provider? We lock in a rate in the summer and the provider estimates how much we'll use each year and then bills us monthly. They come out about once every couple of months to top off the tank.

We have the option but normally we use our woodstove for the majority of our heating. The snow has just been so bad this winter that the woodpile was often buried under a couple feet or frozen solid so you couldn't get the pieces apart. Not usual at all. I always put money aside for it just in case, but I've never had to use all of it before.
