The Value of a Penny

May 6th, 2006 at 08:42 am

I signed up for the six paid to read email sites that comparerewards listed in her blog and have already started making money. Sure, its peanuts, or pennies, but its still something. It definitely falls under the something for nothing category, although technically, its something for almost nothing.

In my pursuit of the penny, with the subject of people keep giving me money heading, I was given yet another cent extra in change because the store did not want to give me four pennies. They gave me a nickle instead. This brings my total of free money up to $0.94. When I reach one dollar I'll have to go back and see what day I began tracking on. I think its only been about 2 weeks.

I love those things! Currently I am in two programs that give me an extra two to three bucks a month (which collect interest in Paypal). I figure the dough from the programs will yield me some nice Ebay stuff sometime in the future! Smile
As for pennies given to you, have you started picking up change you spot on the floor? Pennies call out to other pennies.. soon you'll have a giant jug full of coins Smile

I walk through parking lots with my head down. I average about $1 a week in found money. Yesterday, I found $2. People won't pick up anything less than a quarter, so I get a lot of dimes and pennies. These pay to read sites make me wary, only because for a while a few years ago there was big boom of 'toolbar/adbar' pay-for programs. Many of them, I had a balance in the teens but they didn't pay until you had $20 or $25 and all of them but one either went bust or otherwise didn't pay properly before I realized any money. I hope you have greater success and I may even look into this for myself.

Comparerewards only posted the sites that she had actually received money from and they pay out at $5 or less. I figured those would be good ones to try first.

I do pick up coins off the ground or floor, but they don't get counted into my running total. The running total is about people who literally place the extra money in my hand, not caring that they are giving away the pennies or whatever. It says something about our society when people don't care enough to watch their pennies.

It all goes into the coin jar regardless.

Hi, LuckyRobin! How have those sites been treating you? I a couple of other recommendations, both of which -- if you're really disciplined about clicking daily -- can add up to about another $1 each, every 2.5 to 3 days! Let me know if you're interested...and please post an update on how you're liking the sites you joined earlier!
