It's Pouring

May 22nd, 2013 at 12:23 am

Yesterday was so beautiful and today is so wet that the chickens are taking it as a personal insult. I am tired of the weather swings, but it could be so much worse. I feel guilty complaining about the weather here when I read the news and see the photos coming out of Oklahoma.

That sort of devastation seems unreal to me because I've never seen it in real life. The only things I have personally experienced are massive floods big enough to declare us a disaster area and the day the creek exploded and the town was under a black mushroom cloud. And even that can't compare to the scale of the tornado there. My heart and prayers go out to the people who have survived this devastation.

I didn't sleep last night. I hate it when that happens. It makes it so hard to cope with the day in a good financial state of mind. So my planned homemade pizza turned into an XL carry out pizza from Round Table instead. $29.35. It has gone up from $27.18, what it's been for the last year. That left me with 65 cents for the coin jar.

I am so behind on where I want to be with gardening. There has been so much to do lately between homeschooling and the animals and whenever I finally get that wrapped up, it starts raining. Usually May is nicer than this, especially in the second half. I know by mid-June it will stop raining and then we won't see much of it until the fall, but it always feels like forever waiting out the nine months of the year when it does almost nothing but rain here.

I wish we would get some rain here, we are in a severe drought. The cattle are suffering and the tree roots are on top of the soil in some places. It is really bad!

Watching the news reports makes one realize how fortunate we are, indeed.

Sorry you are behind on your garden...hope you get caught up.

eek, that's alot for pizza. Dominos (not as good) med 1 topping carry out is $6, and large 1 topping carry out is $7 I think. Or I use the copious coupons in the mailers.

    Dominos - yuck!! LOL.

I did a double take at your pizza cost LR - we are die hard Round Table fans (though our grocer has take and bake, very fresh, for around $7 on sale - and they are as good if not better - so we mix it up a bit. For reference, we really don't like any other pizza). We regularly get $5-off coupons for Round Table ever since the economy went sour. So I think that added to my sticker shock. If you are not getting those coupons: you poor soul!!!

It was beautiful down here on Monday too...today...yucky and rainy. At least it is not cold. I too cannot imagine the devastation....just heartbreaking.

Wish we still had a Round Table here! All of the ones in our area have closed. They were a bit on the spendy side, but one of our fav's.

PCJ--We are limited to which pizza places we can get things from due to DS's allergies, so no Domino's or other cardboard type pizza places for us. It's either RT or two gourmet pizza places. RT is definitely the less expensive of the lot.

MM--It is for the XL specialty Montague's All Meat Marvel. We could get a pepperoni or two topping pizza for a whole lot less. We don't get the coupons here anymore. I haven't seen RT coupons in a couple of years actually.
