BoA Owns My Soul (I'm just Leasing it Back for 12% a Month)

March 9th, 2011 at 11:38 pm

Well, DH's travel expenses for the month have posted to the BoA VISA and it's not as bad as I thought. I thought it was closer to $1500, but it was $1291.67, a difference of $208.33. Interest is $189.93. Which comes to $1481.60. I've set aside $1500 thinking I'd have to come up with a few hundred more just to stand still this payment, but I don't. And it'll even have $19.40 going to the principle. Yay. That means for sure all extra money this paycheck can go to BoA Master Card.

As much as I don't like standing still on this card, if it means paying off the Master Card in a couple more months, I can do it. Then I can slam the VISA with all the Master Card money. And I have to look on the bright side. At least we CAN stand still on the VISA. It would be much worse if that total were to actually rise overall each month. I just need to hang in there until June and then we can slam that VISA so hard it won't know what hit it.

It is hard to put one thing on hold while you work on one goal, but it will be worth it. It will!!

That's what I keep telling myself! It's so important to maintain that positive outlook.

Does your husband get reimbursed for his travel?

No, he doesn't. He has to pay the portion from here to Anchorage. Work pays for Anchorage to the slope. We choose not to live in Anchorage and it's still cheaper for us to pay for airfare and hotel and travel food than it would be for him to work locally. Slope workers are paid a major premium. Local jobs in his field, if he could find one, would only pay half of what he earns up there. Travel costs would have to be $4000 for it not to pay off for us.

I see. It sounds as though he has a very interesting job! So he is gone for long stretches of time?

He works 3 weeks on (21 days straight, 12 hours a day) up on the slope and then he is home (and off work) for 3 weeks. Lather, rinse, repeat.
