My Day in Pictures

July 11th, 2012 at 03:45 am

This is Patches (so named because of how his feathers came in). He of the wonky wing. You can see the dark green mottling on his neck here. The newbies are getting more and more used to me now and finally letting me get near enough to take some decent close ups.

I can't believe how much the cauliflower has grown in the last few days.

One of the brandywine tomatoes. This is the biggest.

The blackberries are not going to wait until the end of August. Most of them look like this, but I did see a couple that were black.

And...one of these things is not like the other.

Three more pints of raspberries and a quarter of a pint of the first blueberries.

In June I never thought summer would get here. It rained almost the whole month. July is making up for that for sure.

I am so jealous of your garden. We just moved last year, so I am starting from scratch again. Boo. As for the berries, yes expect them to be early. The extreme heat here has caused all of our berries to ripen two to three weeks early.

The hottest it has gotten here is in the 80's. Most days are at 75, but that is certainly enough to move everything up. Except the strawberries which were late because of all the June rain. They're going like crazy now. I'm not used to seeing strawberries and raspberries in the store at the same time. It is nice to see things moved up though, because June seemed to stunt so much. Sorry you have to start over with gardening. That always seems like such a daunting task.
