Not a Spammy Purse Post

May 20th, 2011 at 01:51 am

So I'm looking for a new purse. The shoulder strap on my current one is about to give and it's not one of those ones with the fasteners on the end, so you could substitute a strap off an old one, it's the sort with the strap sown straight into the bag. Which I really hate, but at the time it was the only long strapped purse I could find locally.

Today I've been perusing the web looking for a properly strapped bag, one that has a shoulder strap and attaches with buckles or fasteners instead of being sewn directly into the leather, and is big enough for all my stuff without being so big it looks like a diaper bag or something. I will never give my business to those two purse companies that keep spamming here, but I did find two other brands, one I'd heard of before and one I hadn't. Fossil I'd heard of but the only bags I like of theirs tend to be around $128. The other bag I like is from a company called Tyler Rodan and it's $69.

I don't mind spending the money if it's going to last. At my current rate I am going through a ten dollar purse every 3 months or so. If it's a good company that makes solid purses then it's worth it. I used to have one brand that was a little pricey but would last five years but then it stopped making bags with shoulder straps.

I guess what I am wondering is whether or not anyone has used either of these brands of purses and if they have had a good experience with it or a negative one?

I usually have alot of luck finding nice and affordable bags at TJ Maxx or Ross Dress for Less. Sometimes, at resale shops, but it depends.

I second the Ross pick, but purses are my weakness. I get one and one has to go. Maybe I should photograph my purses, you pick the one you like and I can ship it to you. Smile I've bought from Overstock.com - If you live right maybe the two brands you describe could be found there.

Value Village and Goodwill sometimes can be good. If nothing else, if you paw through theirs and find a style you like, sometimes the tag is still on them and can give you the name of a style or manufacturer - giving you additional leads.

Also, if there's a boutique going out of business I'd stop in to see if there's a purse to had.

And finally, if its just the strap, you really like the bag, and you have a good shoe repair shop, all of the shoe repair shops have branched out to do purse straps.

I just had my purse fixed at the local shoe repir store for $5. Well worth it for a purse I love.

Thriftorama--Well, we do have both of those stores here, but I've only been to TJ Maxx once and it was horribly cluttered. Never been to Ross as they have the worst parking situation ever.

Baselle--You wouldn't even have to ship it as I will be in Seattle on Thursday and Friday doing the Virginia Mason thing. But seriously, I found a purse that I really, really like, has all the stuff I want a purse to have, and is pretty. Comes with a matching umbrella, too. I was just hoping someone had heard of the brand.

Debtfreeme--If I liked the purse I might do that, but it was more of a necessity purchase at the time. I took what they had that met my minimum needs.
